KNOW ABOUT EVERHOT

When buying a cooker, there are many things you have consider, one of them is knowing more about the product and it’s manufacturers.

RUNNING AN EVERHOT

Whether you generate power via solar, wind or water power or, like the vast majority of people, use the national grid, it makes sense to choose an appliance that has been designed to minimise energy consumption.
Not only does the Everhot use a small amount of power, it uses it in a way that suits electricity generation. It trickle feeds small amounts in, rather than demanding large spikes of electricity which overloads both home producers and national networks. Obviously reducing energy consumption directly feeds through to lower running costs.

If you are one of the many thousands of households who have invested in solar panels (or wind or water power) you probably have an active interest in how your energy is being used and are benefiting from the government’s FIT scheme (feed in tariff).

HISTORY OF EVERHOT

Everhot Cookers’ birthplace was at Coaley Mill, a 13th century water powered mill near Dursley in the old wool heartland of the south Cotswold valleys, now all cookers are manufactured in a purpose built factory 3 miles from Coaley Mill.

Some forty years ago the inventor of the EVERHOT (the mill owner) wanted a heat storage range that would provide some background warmth to his kitchen and that would also have a very low requirement for energy (without the ‘spikes' that normally occur when switching on an electric oven or ring). He hence set about inventing the Everhot, and for the first ten years following this, the Everhot was sold in small quantities whilst gently evolving prior to its full commercial launch in 1995.

Whilst the first cooker ever produced is still in daily use, the evolution continues and our philosophy remains unchanged. They are constantly seeking to improve the Everhot without ever compromising on quality. Everhot also remain firmly committed to preserving our environment - through our use of water power and also through careful selection of UK based suppliers and products.

EVERHOT WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

This principle of conserving energy is at the heart of Everhot’s design philosophy and they believe in local manufacturing and offsetting any damage our manufacturing causes. To this end all their cookers are assembled in Gloucestershire from parts that are almost exclusively supplied from the UK using energy that we largely generate ourselves.

The Everhot factory is a new BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) ‘Excellent’ rated building which has been further enhanced by the fitting of a 50kW solar array. To make sure any energy shortfall is accounted for they have recently planted 10,000 native trees on a 12 acre site within one mile of our factory – which makes them a carbon negative company by a considerable margin.
